Tell the Sky I Pray
17x22 Inkjet Luster Prints
With “Tell the Sky I Pray”, I explore and examine generational nihilism through a fragmented body of work. Inspired by the likes of Soren Kirkegaard and Fyodor Dostoyevsky, “Tell the Sky I Pray” acts as a spiritual autopsy in a secular age. With most of the younger generation being detached from traditional faith, we as a generation confront existence without premise or promise. Not only do our traditional spiritual beliefs fall short, but we bear witness to the slow erosion of the social structure of our world. Through these staged and scattered fragments, the project maps the quiet void and violence of the subconscious inherited by youth. By incorporating various materials, high-contrast scenes, and blue monochromatic gradients, I create a somber and surreal landscape of the self, bridging the gap between the internal and external world. The work creates a space for discourse in an age where structures of meaning are crumbling, leaving a generation disquiet in search of a sense of belonging and stability.
