The Lead that Resides in our Frontal Lobe // you've changed
This series is about my relationship with psychosis. These images are fragmented thoughts and feelings I felt during my episode. Themes like sensory hallucinations, feelings of solitude and the loss of control of reality and self run rampant throughout. These images are curated based on journal entries I wrote briefly after the episode, these entries were key to my development of these photographs. In confronting the raw realities of my experience with psychosis, I have unearthed layers of my own psyche that were previously shrouded in shame and fear. We live in a world where people ask “How are you?” and the only acceptable response is “good.” and we play along with it in an endless loop. Through these images of my fragmented past, I've come to realize the profound impact of societal norms and the pressure to maintain a glossy facade. This series serves as a countercultural exploration, inviting viewers to delve into the complexities of human experience beyond surface level exacerbated by popular media.
I'd like to thank Antoine and Marissa, for your kindness and support. Whether you were aware or not, I am deeply grateful for all you both have done.
